Common Questions

Bhutan Travel FAQ

A government fee that funds conservation, free healthcare and education in Bhutan. It’s currently USD 100 per person, per night for most international visitors (this rate is set through August 2027), billed separately from your guide, hotels and transport. Rates differ for regional visitors — we’ll confirm your exact figure at booking.
Yes, a licensed local guide is required for most of the country. We provide yours as standard on every trip, along with a private vehicle and driver — already built into your quote.
Spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November) bring the clearest mountain views and the biggest festivals. We can also plan your trip around a specific Tshechu.
Bhutan positions itself as a “high value, low impact” destination, so costs sit above neighboring countries, largely because of the SDF. We build one transparent, all-inclusive quote up front.
For peak season (March–May and September–November) we recommend 2–4 months’ notice, though we can often accommodate shorter timelines outside those windows.
Your private guide, vehicle and driver, hotels, most meals, permits and the SDF are included in every quote. International flights are arranged separately.
